Directions
Add soil to starter trays, flats or containers. Smooth and water the surface. It is normal for some sticks to be present in the material, due to the high volume of organic matter. This will just add additional porosity.
For Starting Seeds: Plant seeds according to package directions.
For Cuttings: Cut off healthy pieces of plant 3-6″ (7.5-15 cm) in length. Strip leaves from lower half of cutting. If desired, dip cut end into rooting hormone to further encourage fast root development. Make a hole in the soil and insert cutting into mix, pressing soil around stems.
Water with fine spray, cover containers with plastic bag or domes and place in a well-lit area, out of direct sunlight. When plants reach desired size, and roots have formed with new leaf growth, transfer to pots or directly to flower or vegetable gardens. If planting outdoors, harden plants to outdoor conditions over 5-7 days.
A fertilization program should be implemented 3 weeks after planting with an organic fertilizer.
